Jo Roets Art

About Jo Roets Art
Jo Roets is a South African sculptor, painter, and mould maker whose practice is rooted in curiosity and experimentation. She is best known for her “light relief sculptures” crafted from self-drying natural stone clay, rolled into paper-thin sheets and intricately detailed with unconventional tools like toothpicks and needles. By pushing the clay to its limits, she embraces the medium’s natural tendency to warp, creating one-of-a-kind works that balance precision with unpredictability. Each sculpture captures both the delicacy and resilience of clay, reflecting Jo’s passion for transforming humble materials into finely crafted, thought-provoking artworks.
